Commercial Manager - Operations & Supply Chain

The opportunity:
The Commercial Manager – Operations & Supply Chain is responsible for providing commercial leadership, financial insight and strategic decision support across Symbion's supply chain and operational network.
The role partners closely with Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, Sales and Executive Leadership teams to optimise business performance through data-driven decision making, scenario modelling, investment analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
The position plays a critical role in balancing service, cost, productivity, working capital and growth objectives while supporting the development and execution of long-term operational and commercial strategies.
Through strong business partnering and analytical leadership, the role enables informed decision-making that improves customer outcomes, operational efficiency and shareholder value.
What you will do:
- Provide support & oversight of month-end processes and reporting
- Partner with EGM Supply Chain Operations to manage budgets, forecasts, and cost performance across the supply chain.
- Monitor and report key commercial KPIs (cost-to-serve, freight costs, labour, inventory holding costs, supplier rebates, etc.).
- Provide insights of financial results that enhance stakeholder control of performance & knowledge of drivers
- Assist with resource management within CAPEX program
- Provide transparency of costs to identify initiatives that optimise our cost to serve
- Explore alternative revenue streams to utilise all available resources
- Support teams to improve KPIs by addressing root cause of bottlenecks
- Continuously improve the efficiency and impact of cyclical processes through automation & AI
- Act as a key interface between Supply Chain, Finance, and Operations.
- Create continuous information exchange between demand planners and sales analysts to share assumptions, insights, tools
- Provide commercial insights to support decision-making across sourcing, distribution, and inventory management.
- Influence stakeholders across the organisation to deliver cost and efficiency initiatives.
- Lead financial analysis & scenario modelling of business cases, tenders and investment decisions.
- Collaborate with teams to present 1, 3, 5+ year outlook for OPEX & CAPEX resources and targets
- Develop and execute supply chain commercial strategies aligned to business objectives.
- Drive total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis across key categories and supply chain activities.
- Support long-term supplier and network strategy decisions with robust commercial insights.
- Drive ownership of own role & growth through continuous learning, innovation, experimentation & feedback
- Execute meaningful achievement cycle (performance plan KIPs/1:1s)
- Embed sustainable SOP documentation process for core activities
What we are looking for:
- Degree in Finance, Commerce, Supply Chain, Economics, or related field.
- Professional qualifications (e.g., CA, CPA, CIPS, MBA) highly desirable.
- 8–12+ years’ experience in commercial finance or supply chain finance roles.
- Demonstrated experience in cost management, financial analysis, and scenario modelling
- Experience in supply chain, logistics, procurement, or distribution environments (essential).
- Proven track record of delivering measurable cost savings and commercial outcomes.
- Experience working with senior stakeholders, including executive leadership.
- Strong commercial acumen and financial modelling capability.
- Advanced analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Negotiation and influencing skills at senior levels.
- High level of self-motivation and results focused
- Deep understanding of supply chain cost drivers and operational KPIs
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Advanced Excel and data analytics capability; experience with BI tools (e.g., Power BI) preferred.
- High level of governance, risk awareness, and attention to detail.
